Prevention Services: reduce the incidence or prevalence of emotional, social and behavioural problems in children
We believe that it is our responsibility to enhance public awareness of mental health issues, to promote healthy environments for children and to provide services for children who are at risk of developing mental health problems. The Centre participates, in and provides leadership to, a number of community networks that focus on prevention:
The Brighter Futures Coalition
The Centre is a member of the Brighter Futures Coalition of Etobicoke. Funded by Health Canada, this is a network of agencies that provides services to children, ages birth to 6, and their families. The purpose is to provide programs that will increase the health and well being of children at risk in the context of their families and community. Centre staff are involved in implementing Brighter Futures programs throughout Etobicoke.
West Toronto Preschool Speech
and Language Service
ECC is one of the member agencies providing comprehensive speech and language services. The goal is to ensure that every preschool child who requires speech and language services will receive service and will acquire the communication skills needed for personal and social sufficiency at home and at school.
